Own Goal
Accidental Scoring
In sports, an own goal occurs when a player inadvertently scores against their own team. This is often referred to as the equivalent of an "own goal" in soccer or hockey, where the goal is credited to an offensive player on the opposing team.
Mistakes Happen
Own goals can result from a variety of mistakes, such as misjudging the trajectory of the ball or attempting to clear it from danger but accidentally putting it into the net. While frustrating for the player and their team, own goals are an unfortunate but unavoidable aspect of competitive sports.
